Dear colleagues,

Medicine has come a long way from the time when almost all doctors were generalists. The explosion in medical knowledge and the widespread development of new technologies have made it difficult to stay abreast of a single medical specialty. Today in all over the world, there are over 120 medical specialties and subspecialties.

These subspecialists are doing an excellent job in fulfilling their role in the overall health-care system; however, those who are super specialized in narrow areas of medicine are more focused on their area of expertise and have a less holistic approach to human health and associated medical issues.

Internal Medicine combines the analytical examination with a personalized, compassionate approach to the human health. This expertise enables internal medicine specialists to take a close look at how all the systems in the body work together as a whole, and to treat both common illnesses and complex medical conditions.

By founding the Georgian College of Internal Medicine we set the goal to harmonize the knowledge, experience and performance of Georgian general internists by creating a wide spectrum of contemporary professional competencies, and promotion and advocacy of competence-based clinical practice.

So, welcome to our community!

Testimonials

“A lot of the appeal of internal medicine is Sherlockian—solving the case from the clues. We are detectives; we revel in the process of figuring it all out. It’s what doctors most love to do.”
